Minneapolis Wedding | A Backyard Covid Wedding

Sara + Nicolas are extra special around here because Sara is my fiance’s cousin! It was so much fun getting to work with family through the planning and design process of her own wedding. These two got hit with the stress and anxiety of planning a wedding during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. I remember chatting with Sara a handful of times throughout the Spring and early Summer, and how much had changed between each of those check-ins. I think we can all relate to the “this won’t last longer than a few weeks” thought back in April of 2020. That then turned into, “there’s no way that this will still be affecting us by the end of Summer!”

Even though so much was up in the air, Sara + Nicolas handled their wedding being totally turned upside down so graciously. Like a lot of couples who were in the planning process through all of this, their intimate ceremony and backyard reception ended up being perfect for them. They were able to spend so much quality time with their immediate family members and those who are closest to their hearts. It truly was a beautiful day.

Sara was able to get ready with her mom, sister, and other close family members at her parent’s house, where she grew up. The getting ready experience was something that was so important to her, and it was so special that they got to do that together at home. Their ceremony was held at the church that she grew up at, where her mom and so many of her other extended family members attend. Their intimate ceremony then was back at her parent’s house in their backyard and spread throughout their home. It was such a warm and cozy day that was truly centered around Sara + Nicolas’ new marriage.
