Wedding Venue Field Notes | Quincy Hall

Wedding Venue Field Notes | Quincy Hall

To kick off our first “Venue Field Notes”, we’re talking with Samantha, a wedding sales director at Quincy Hall! Quincy Hall is located in the Northeast Minneapolis and offers a wide variety of amenities including an outdoor patio, designated parking lot, and incredible industrial vibes like the 40-foot vaulted ceilings and open floorplan. The venue is owned and operated by CRAVE Catering, which never fails to impress guests and vendors alike!

Working at Quincy has always been a great experience and we hope you consider them for your wedding day! Hopefully these answers and photos gave you an insight to how awesome they are. Take it away, Samantha!

01. Tell us the story of how your business got started!

“We are owned and fully operated by the Crave Catering events team. Part of the Kaskaid Hospitality group which owns all Crave restaurants, Brits Pub, BLVD, The Butchers Tale and others. We got the space way back in 2018 and it took a looooong time to complete the full build out (cheers to a historic building and all the hoops!) but we are so happy with the way the space turned out!”

02. What’s your favorite wedding trend(s) right now?

My favorite wedding trend is that people seem to really NOT be following the very formal traditions as much anymore. COVID really shook things up and now I think people really focus on what is REALLY important to them, what they think is fun, and are creating an event to match them and their personalities.”

03. What wedding trend(s) are you over?

“I think receiving lines have seen their last days... they take SO MUCH time when guests are antsy to get to the bar and socialize, kinda awkward, and seem very old school but do what you want folks!”

04. What’s something you wish every planner told their couples?

“Not to forget about the GUEST experience of your wedding day. Too often we see couples so heavily focuses on decor and the pretty things (which of course is so fun!) but plan for things to really pamper your guests like butler passed beverages so there are no lines at the bar, parking or valet so they aren't stressed before even entering, not removing guest tables for dance floor, offering a late night snack if going late into the evening, etc. A lot of these little things really ensure everyone attending your wedding also has a wonderful time, in addition to our lovely couples of course!”

05. What would be your dream destination wedding location to work?

“ITALY - always. The scenery, the food, the WINE. Take me now!”

06. What is your favorite part of a wedding day as a vendor?

“Watching the couple head down the aisle. In our venue our aisle is 100' long and very beautiful and dramatic, a lot of big smiles and teary eyes every weekend.”

07. What was something you dreamed of having being part of your wedding when you were a kid? Did you / will you still include that?

“A dramatic view for the ceremony was something I dreamed of once I was engaged. Never thought of my wedding until then! Got married on a mountain in British Columbia, so the mission was a success!”

08. What is something unique about your venue that you love?

“It was an old factory with some gorgeous beams still intact. They are the bones for all the fun decor people bring in.”

09. What’s your favorite place to grab a bite to eat and/or drink right now in the Twin Cities right now? your answer:

“Our next door neighbors, Earl Giles just opened and it is an amazing space with the best cocktails and great pizza. Literally like a jungle in there with all the live plants, it will for sure be my haven come winter!”
