This week we’re so excited to highlight one of the best in the biz, Abbi Zwilling of Styled by Abbi! Abbi will be sharing some of her favorite wedding trends, dream venues, and her favorite part of the wedding day.
Styled by Abbi is an event hair and makeup company based in the Twin Cities. Abbi listens to her clients so closely and pays attention to every detail, nothing slips through the cracks and you can tell! She is always a joy to work with and is immediately friends with everyone when she walks into a room - we think that energy is required on wedding days. We love her work, and you will too! 0.1 Tell us the story of how Styled by Abbi got started:
I’m a licensed freelance hair & makeup artist with over 12 YEARS of experience (eek that makes me feel old :)). SBA was born kind of on a whim actually! I had no intentions of starting my own business until March 2017 when I was asked to do makeup for a styled shoot (I had no idea what that was but thought it could be fun!) At the time I was working at a blowout bar specializing in hair styling & makeup for weddings, bachelorette parties, special events, etc. After the styled shoot inquiries started flowing in & the rest is history! I’ve helped over 200 beautiful brides & counting get ready for their big day!
02. What’s your favorite wedding trend right now?
Maximalism, minimalism, neutrals, bold colors, sleek buns, boho braids. I say whatever you & your partner like DO IT! If a couple chooses things they like & represents them & their love story well it shows & being authentically you will forever be in style. I do love a low understated sleek bun paired with killer statement earrings, a simple no frills dress & all black wedding party attire though ;)
03. What wedding trend(s) are you over?
That's tricky but If I had to choose I think I'd go with wedding favors at the end of the night!
04. What’s something you wish every planner told their couples?
I have a few things: book your hair & makeup artist sooner rather than later, stick to your budget, keep hydrated & eat, and ENJOY the day because it goes by fast!
05. What would be your dream destination wedding location to work?
Probably the Gold Coast in Australia! Mountains, beaches, views & the sun; count me in!
06. What’s your favorite part of a wedding day as a vendor?
The morning buzz of course! Everyone's always excited & ready to get the day started. I love pampering my brides & all of her most important ladies & seeing the whole look come together is my favorite!
