Wedding Vendor Field Notes | Style Society
You’re in for a treat today because we are sharing some insider information about the Twin Cities wedding industry. First up, is Emily + Jess of Style Society! These two kickass ladies run one of our favorite event rental companies here in Minneapolis. Their inventory is so unique and true to their brand. On top of event rentals, they also offer styling, home staging, and have an epic clubhouse that can be rented out for a number of different small events / meetings. We love it all. Keep reading to get all their field notes (Q+A style) about working in the wedding industry!
01. What was something you dreamed of having being part of your wedding when you were a kid?
Emily - When I was a kid I always pictured riding a beautiful white horse down the aisle in a big princess dress! I’m not really sure why, I never rode horses or anything when I was a kid, but that was always what I pictured!
Jess - A hot air balloon!
02. Did you / will you still include that in your actual wedding?
Emily - Haha, absolutely not! I am much more low key these days.
Jess - I would definitely try, if I don’t end up just eloping!
03. What’s your favorite wedding trend right now?
We love that couples are getting more bold with their color palette choices! We love color and it is so much fun to play with more colors than pastels and neutrals (not that we don’t love those options, too!)
I also love the sustainability trend with couples being more eco friendly and conscious! Weddings can be so wasteful and it’s fun to see people make sustainability more of a priority!
Really, my favorite thing a couple can do is make their day unique to them, their love story and their personalities. They should feature all of their favorite things and represent them as a couple in fun and thoughtful ways! That’s a trend I hope will never die!
04. What trend(s) do you wish would die?
That’s a tough one! I don’t know how much of a trend these are anymore, but we’re not huge fans of balloon arches or doughnut walls. I don’t have a good explanation as to why, it was fun when they first came out, but we’re over it!
05. What’s something you wish every planner told their couples?
Just setting the right budget expectations for different vendors! There is nothing worse than having to break the news to a bride that the lounge of her dreams or collection of pieces she has her heart set on is out of their budget.
06. What would be your dream destination wedding location to work?
New Orleans, Palm Springs, or somewhere in the mountains! All totally different looks, but very cool and distinctive!
07. What’s your favorite part of a wedding day as a vendor?
We love the quiet buzz of all the different vendors doing their thing to set up someone’s best day ever! We are all working separately, but also together to make the magic happen! Also, that couple of moments when everything is set up and ready to go, right before the guests arrive! Where you can just bask in the beauty of everyone’s hard work!
08. What’s your favorite place to grab a bite to eat and/or drink in the Twin Cities right now?
REVIVAL! So good! Great Old Fashioned, too!
